[Humanities] “My Learning of the 5 Themes of Geography”
Definition: What is geography?
Geography is study of Earth and the lands, features, inhabitants, and phenomena of Earth. The word “GEOGRAPHY” is from the Greek word “GEOGRAPHIA”. Geography usually use to explain and communicate the differences and between various land. Today, researchers are still focus on people and culture; and planet earth.

Theme 1: Location
Where are you right now? Describe your location in as many ways as you can.
I am in Hsinchu International School. It is a school in Hsinchu. It is the north west side of Taiwan. The longitude and latitude of HIS is 24°47'44.79"N and120°56'33.90"E.

Theme 2: Place What do we mean by the terms “physical, human and cultural” when we describe a place?
The physical, human and cultural characteristics are a kind of place. Human characteristics will include human-designed cultural features of a place or land; ex: structures. Physical characteristics are will include land, mountains, rivers, beaches, plants, animal, and water forms. Cultural characteristics will be human and geography interaction.

Theme 3: Human-Environment Interactions How do humans adapt to and/or change the environment?
Humans adapt to and change the environment by polluting the environment, change the environment by cutting trees down and build houses. Human also do something positive to the Earth like
How do we depend upon the environment?
We depend upon the environment in a way just like, the weather is cold, we add clothes on. Maybe someone thinks is not cold enough, they won’t add anything on.

Theme 4: Movement
How does movement affect your daily life? Different movements can make people change their emotions, or because people’s emotion people will have different movements. Sometime when you are happy you will smile to everyone that is one of the examples of because people’s emotions change people’s movements. Another example of different movements can make people change their emotions; like, someone hurt you and that makes you feel very angry.
What “items” are being moved that you interact with on a regular basis?
The items are being moved that I interact with regular basis are house, music, emotions, clothes, economy, transportation, water(drinks), weather, health, technology, sports, and food.

Theme 5: Regions
Describe the difference between a formal, functional and perceptual description of a region.
Regions can be formal, functional, and perceptual description. Formal regions are the things that designated by official boundaries, like: cities, states, counties, and countries. Sometimes it will use for economic and cultural also. Usually it is use for man-made. Functional regions are certain interaction that will connect places. Perceptual regions are the different people can have different views and perceptions of what the things might have.

[Science]Isolating the Variable
In science class we talk about "isolating the variable" and that means you eliminate all the differences between tow experiments , then you know that the difference in results is caused by a certain reason you made.
We did SMASH day (Smith's Marvelously Awesome Science Hoopla! WooHoo! DAY) and we looking at Chocolate Attack activity. We need to make a ship and it will test by float on the water, then see which group can fit in the most corks the group gets to win. The reason why we do this is because there are chocolate attack and we need to invent the boat that can fit in most people to save everyone from HIS. In 30 minutes we need to finish the boat so the time is enough for the people who wants to escape from chocolate attack. My group is Peter, Tung Erh, and me. The things is "how did the activity isolate design as the variable?". We get three piece of papers, scissors, tape, and three straws from Miss. Smiths. The winner is Stephine, Annchi, and Jasmine C'S group, their boat can fit in 30 corks. The most corks. Their design is the boat is very big and it has more space to put the cork, the boat they make can also separate the gravity. They didn't waste paper, so their boat looks very slight. So, the most important point for the boat is the boat must be slight, big enough. To let the boat float on the water and it can fit in many corks.

[Humanities] Current events
By Alexei Barrionuevo
Buenos Aires- Cow are dying by the thousands in the baking san and the crops are being last and even break the soil. It's because the weather. The lost farming revenue will complicate the government's efforts to meet more that 18 billion dollars in debt this year. President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner and Néstor Kirchner, the former president are putting political heat on the country's first couple, they are the people who can control to let the things become better. I wonder why the things will happen, how do they change the weather by technology by thinking some solution to figure out?

By:Helene Cooper Washington-Obama decided to provide 900 million dollars to help republic Gaza. They decided on Monday and they are going to do it soon. He is going to provide some money to Republic Gaza. The reason that they give the money to Republic Gaza is they want to help them rebuild Gaza. My question of this article is how do they want to help them rebuild Gaza? In which way? The web: http://www.nytimes.com/2009/02/24/washington/24gaza.html?_r=1&ref=world

[Science] Puzzles and Drift
Later on, we study Continental Drift which is published by Alfred Wegener. He wrote about the continents were a big grassland before. That means the continent will move. He found out this because he found the same fossil in different continent and the things that really fun was the edges of the continents are fit.
The puzzle and continental drift are somethings same because puzzle is put together by different shapes and continental drift talk about the edges are fit. So, this is the same things they are same and this is also the things Ms. Smiths wants us to understand.

[Humanities]5 Themes of Geography
Geography often described as two parts, which make up a whole. So, geography described by part 1 Regional Geography, and part 2 Topical, or Systematic Geography. Regional Geography focuses on the areas of Earth space that have degree of homogeneity. Regions can be physical, human or combination of both. Topical, or Systematic Geography includes studies climate, landforms, economics, and culture among others. There are many people study geography they may call themselves biogeographers, political geographers…. They study their own subject.

[Humanities]Why is where important?
The planets form by geography-land-water. The planet we live is Earth. Our planet Earth have 70 percent is form by water, 30 percent is form by land. Every place have different kind of weather, time and terrain…. etc. It is because those reasons affect our lives. Cold weather and hot weather can let people get cold or feel hot…etc. That’s why people will change because of the geography, land, and water.

[Science]Submarine SMASH Day Reflection
I know that I should modify my design by to see the things in the box. I need to try to use mirrors to see the things inside the paper and know what is inside the box. My team communicates and discusses about the design at first then starts to do it.
If you are someone who is doing this first time don’t give up while you are design. It is hard to be successful in this mission. In this mission your design will need many tape so you need to be careful for using the tape on your design. While you are trying to make your design easily to finish the mission then you need to discuss with your teammate how do you make your design.
